Wow, what a magnificent day this was to capture Eliott and Andrew's big day at Gilmerton House near Edinburgh on timeless Super 8 film. I truly love this format that gives a unique and timeless feel to the wedding day and this couple combined with their church ceremony followed by the reception at this incredible Georgian mansion the heart of East Lothian, made a for a truly wonderful day filled with laughter, sunshine and bagpipes!
the weather in Scotland can be somewhat changeable but not on this day when the sun didn't let up until it finally set whilst the Cèilidh continued into the night.
Large and Medium Format Film
In addition to their Super 8 film, Eliott asked if I would take a few portraits on large and medium format film alongside their digital photographer which of course I was more than happy to do. My analogue heart loves any opportunity to capture your day on 5x4. I just love the look it gives especially the timeless black and white on Ilford FP4+ and HP5.
I shot these on my Pacemaker Speed Graphic from the early 1950's with the Aero Ektar lens from 1944.
Super 8 Film
Of course the main part of the day I was capturing on wonderful, timeless Super 8 film. Shot on a combination of Kodak 50D, 200t and 500t for the evening.
