Jemma of Jemma Khan Studios has been running her bespoke wedding florist service for 5 years now and works with couples all over the country, with a focus on the North West of England. I have worked with Jemma on a few projects now including a beautiful styled shoot at Capesthorne Hall where we also put a little time aside to do some branding photos. Based from her studio in Bolton, she's there to guide you through your wedding florals from start to finish and I would definitely recommend checking her out if you want beautiful, timeless floristry.

About Jemma and Jemma Khan Studios
Gareth – Hi, Jemma. It's lovely to work with you again. Can you tell us how long have you been running you're own floral studio?
Jemma – I've been running my floral studio for coming up to four years now. I trained from 2017 to 2020 and finally felt confident enough to start.
Gareth – What would you say are your target clients when couples book you for their wedding florals?
Jemma – Couples who appreciate real flowers for their wedding and understand their beauty and how they can transform and enhance their venue space. They're usually time-poor and trust me to handle every aspect of their floral design, from bouquets to centrepieces and installations. With that, there’s a certain amount of admin and logistics, which I also take care of. I often work alongside planners, ensuring the couple can fully enjoy their big day without any stress.

The Details
Gareth – What kind of budgets do your customers need to have in mind when they consider you for their wedding arrangements
Jemma – My pricing starts at £5,000, which covers all bridal flowers, smaller table arrangements, and an installation. This also includes setup, travel, and labour costs. I’m also there the next day to clear everything away.
Gareth – Any general advice to your couples on what to look for when booking their florist?
Jemma – Do your research and find someone whose style aligns with yours. Speak to a couple of different florists—but don’t go overboard. I always think you should go with your gut and how well you connect in the consultation. We are so excited to work with you and ensure you have the most incredible day, and that has to shine through.

The Flowers
Gareth – Do you have a favourite type of flower or arrangement at the moment?
Jemma - I am a true lover of the Hellebore—it’s my ultimate favourite. But there are so many! Ranunculus, hydrangeas, dahlias... I could go on and on.
Gareth - How would you describe your style and approach to wedding flowers and arrangements?
Jemma - I take a seasonal approach to all my designs, looking to nature for inspiration. The way a tree finds the light and the shape it creates is a great reference when designing floral arches. We are also very conscious of not using floral foam—our designs are created using traditional floral techniques, which result in a much more natural and organic look. I then combine that with your vision, inspirations, and chosen colours. Your venue choice plays a huge role in the design too—if you're marrying in a heritage home, we ensure the florals are sympathetic to the interiors and overall style of the building.
Gareth - Can you tell me a bit more about this arrangement today at the fabulous Capesthorne Hall?
Jemma - For the Capesthorne shoot, I took inspiration from early autumn, the architecture of the hall, and the use of the Land Rover Defender. I wanted to create something classic and timeless, using muted colours with pops of rich chocolate tones.

And Finally
Gareth – Ideally, how far before the wedding do couples need to enquire to book you as their florist?
Jemma - Ideally, 9–12 months before the wedding. Some couples book 18 months in advance, especially for peak summer dates or the late May bank holiday—it always gets booked up first! That said, I can sometimes accommodate weddings as close as three months before, depending on availability.
